 Escuela de DeQueen recibe galardón en Washington D.C.
La DeQueen Elementary School en la ciudad del mismo nombre en Arkansas y que tiene alumnos en los grados tres al cinco, fue una de las tres escuelas de EEUU, seleccionadas para recibir este año 2012 el Premio “Disipando el Mito” (Dispelling the Myth), otorgado por el Fondo de Educación (The Education Trust) La escuela fue honrada por su importante labor durante la Conferencia de la Educación Nacional 2012, titulada “Lográndolo (Getting It Done) Elevando el rendimiento, Cerrando Brechas para Todos”, en Washington D.C.. La conferencia reunió a educadores y defensores de la educación de todo el país, para discutir estrategias eficaces y poder acabar con los quebrantos que imiden mayores logros y oportunidades en las escuelas para todos los grados desde Kindergarten al 12. |

EL LATINO is a weekly Spanish newspaper serving the Hispanic/Latino community in Central Arkansas. EL LATINO was founded in March 2001, with the mission to educate, assist, and inform the Spanish speaking people of Central Arkansas that could not otherwise understand information released only in English. The newspaper covers the economy, labor, education, immigration, sports, local community and social events, and conducts interviews with Hispanic/Latino residents. The EL LATINO Website offers daily local, national and international (focused mainly on Mexico and Latin America) news updated every 15 minutes by the EFE Spanish Language News Agency. EL LATINO also broadcasts in Spanish monthly on the Arkansas Education Television Network (AETN) TV and daily on radio KABF 88.3 FM.
